NEW THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH POSITOUCH VERSION 5.3x By Charles Reiser

We have told you the new version 5.3x of Positouch is not just your regular update and is loaded with features that advance Positouch functionality beyond competitive software. Charles Reiser provides more revelation of the features that are ushered by the upgrade.



Previously, we introduced to you the latest version of Positouch, when I highlighted some of the new features that make this version the best release ever! In that issue, some of the new features discussed included menu programming, magnetic card enhancements, open dollar gratuities, credit card authorization, discounts and front of the house reporting.

We would like to continue with highlighting core enhancements that have turned this version into a huge success among restaurants looking to take advantage of Positouch’s powerful POS solution. While you may not need all of these features, you certainly will find something that will pique your interests.

Backoffice Features

Programming
PLU's (price look up numbers) can now be filled into the Barcode field. Now you no longer have to use specific item numbers for your wine list, you can use any item number and fill in the bin number in the Barcode field.
Customers who use inventory will appreciate the ability to make recipe items cost center specific. This will allow you to add in the cost of the paper products used in your to go packaging.
Discounts/coupons
An open dollar discount can be distributed evenly over all the items on a check. It will evenly reduce the selling price of each item for reporting purposes.
Comps and coupons entered from the front of the house can now have a force print out of a check just like discounts.

Time and Attendance
Now time and attendance history can be retained for 5 years, offering you better access to your historical data.
If you use miscellaneous pay for some of your employees but not all, Positouch now allows you to exclude specific jobs from receiving it.
When it comes to your staff punching in and out, overlapping punch times are allowed.
If you use the scheduler, time cards can be set to print only at the end of the day or after the last scheduled shift for that employee.

Gift Cards
Gift cards can now be set to only activate at the transaction completion, or after the check is paid, preventing you from loading a card unnecessarily.
There is now a way to issue a refund to a customer in the form of a gift card, insuring that they will still spend their money at your establishment.
Single store loyalty points will soon be available as well.

Delivery/Advanced Ordering
There is now a mapping software interface that will allow your drivers to create maps to their delivery stops right from the POS.
Driver assignment can now be set so that when check are transferred to a driver, they are automatically marked as out, once the checks are paid, the driver status is changed back to in, eliminating several keystrokes.
Advanced Ordering has had two important changes made to it.

• a)The first you will see when you place your advanced order,  when you select the date, the day of the week is now listed next to the date.
• b)when you press the send button, the advanced order pops up a window with buttons for Send (sends to the kitchen immediately), Store (save the order and send it later), and Print (Print a copy of the check).

Front of House Features

Checks
Positouch has increased the number of checks that the system is capable of handling in a single day from 10000 to 15000.
You now can also randomize the check numbers, you might do this to prevent competition from knowing the number of transactions you have in a day.
Positouch has also made it possible to print your check number to above the header, in the past it has been below the header.

Labor Scheduler
Labor scheduler can now be set to show the breaks you schedule for your staff.
Names and phone numbers can be printed on the schedule.
You can also setup schedule request reasons so you can track the requests made by your staff.
