HERE COMES
INTEGRATED POSITOUCH VIDEO SURVEILLANCE
SOLUTION
In a bold
business move, CC Productions has expanded its
line of solutions to include video surveillance
and business intelligence. Through an agreement
with March
Networks we pioneer the integration of video
surveillance into Positouch, allowing a
transaction by transaction monitoring of point of
sale systems by video. The loss prevention and
investigation solution is the best in the
industry, and Positouch users can identify
fraudulent situations in a matter of
minutes.
The video surveillance and data
mining POS Solution integrates a suite of software
tools with the March Networks ™ Digital Video
Recorder (DVR) systems to provide
restaurants the ability to quickly associate
transaction data with high quality video
evidence.
Our solution
provides the ability to determine, capture and
store exception data, perform interactive queries,
and display the associated video and receipt data.

WHY VIDEO
SURVEILLANCE FOR POS?Retailers have
long recognized the importance of video
surveillance to deter theft and vandalism. Now,
forward-thinking organizations are taking video
technology a step further by leveraging next
generation visual intelligence to enhance business
performance.
Losses due to shrinkage are a
growing concern in the industry, however new
technology is increasingly effective in the fight
against dwindling margins. Digital video
surveillance has been viewed as a primary loss
prevention tool for some time, and now even more
so when linked to a POS exception reporting
system. READ

WHAT
IS A GUEST WORTH By Bill Marvin
Should you
be concerned about losing a guest? I mean,
nobody's perfect and if we win more than we lose
we come out alright . . . don't we? Today's
consumers are so demanding that they will tell you
about every little thing that is wrong... won't
they? The answers are yes, no and
no.
Unless
you consistently have more business than you can
handle, my suggestion is that you cannot afford to
let anyone get away! Even more critical, we cannot
count on our guests to tell us when things are not
right. You may understand all this on an
intellectual level but I think it might be
interesting to understand the dynamics of repeat
patronage. READ

TAKING PCI COMPLIANCE MORE SERIOUSLY, REPORT
INDICATES The latest
batch of retail payment security compliance
figures—released by Visa—supports quite a few
different conclusions, ranging from retailers are
taking credit card security more seriously to many
of those retailers have all but given up trying.
Level 3 retailers, which process anywhere from
20,000 to one million transactions a
year, however reported
an impressive 51% actual PCI compliance. READ

CISCO
PROPOSES RETAIL VIDEO
STANDARD Cisco has submitted a proposal to
standardize how computers describe surveillance
video for image analysis to the Association for
Retail Technology Standards (ARTS), a division of
the National Retail Federation. A group of
retailers had asked the networking giant to work
with them to develop a consistent way to access
video analytic data from different vendors, most
of which use proprietary formats and address
specific behaviors and events. In a similar
development, CC Productions has also been working
with March
Networks to develop a standard
for video systems in
Positouch.

REMOVABLE USB DRIVES
CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Removable media
devices now present the biggest threat
to computer security, according to research.
Other studies even found that four out of five
companies do not have effective measures in place
to protect against the threat the devices can
pose.
Increasingly popular USB jump or
flash drives are so easy to use, they are
everywhere. However, they present new dangers
for corporate systems as agents of virus
infection, not to talk of data loss, data
corruption, and data vulnerability risks they
represent. READ
